I have not soaked this wood prior to listing due to its size. In my experience, to date this wood releases very little tannins but in all honesty I’ve no idea how much, if any, will be released. I advise to soak for 24 hours first to ensure you are happy first. Tannins are completely harmless to aquatic life and are said to be beneficial. It can sometimes give the appearance of watered down “tea”.
